Oral hygiene

A plethora of research now suggests that the mouth is a ‘gateway’ to the rest of the body. Gum disease is linked to a number of systemic diseases, such as diabetes, heart disease and Alzheimers, therefore making it essential that patients maintain optimal oral health.

At Carling Dental, we believe that good oral hygiene begins at home and should be complimented by regular hygiene appointments. Our hygienists will carry out a comprehensive examination of the gums and teeth to determine any signs of disease. This may include taking photographs for education purposes and radiographs to assess bone levels. They will spend time analysing current oral hygiene regimes and find ways to incorporate in new techniques to prevent or stabilise any gum conditions present.

Gentle cleaning is then performed by one of our skillful hygienists using a range of techniques. Airflow technology is frequently used which is a system that uses a combination of fine powder particles, compressed air and water in order to remove 100% of bacteria and staining. The results are immediate and patients are left with an extremely clean feeling and fresh breath.
